I originally discovered meditation as a teenager, overwhelmed with the demands of university and our fast-paced world. This initiation of a regular meditation practice resulted in a dramatic change in my perspective and approach to life.
After a dance injury I incorporated yoga into my mindfulness practice. Vinyasa and hatha yoga classes helped me heal my injury, while providing a safe, low-impact workout that wouldn't stress my joints. A love affair was born, and I took my 200 hour interdisciplinary vinyasa teacher training two years later.
In addition to my training in Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga, I have trained in Prenatal, Postnatal, Kid's Yoga, and Yin Yoga. I draw from several healing modalities, including pilates and physical therapy, to improve my classes and maximize their benefits.
I believe strongly that yoga can serve all bodies. The purpose of yoga is to bring greater health and healing to your body, mind, and soul-- not to get your nose to touch your shins. It's about living more fully in your body, welcoming in the parts of ourselves that we have pushed away or ignored, and creating more balance within ourselves as a whole.
